Introduction to Scuba Diving (minimum age 10 years)
This gives an individual first hand experience of SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) with minimum training and an instructor to operate the equipment. You are then free to enjoy the experience of being underwater and marvel at what the Red Sea has to offer in fish life and coral reef ecosystems.
This program is for one dive, normally lasting between thirty to forty five minutes but does not qualify the student to dive in their own right.
For children aged 8 to 10 years old we offer the PADI Bubblemaker program.
This is similar to the above but with a depth limit of two meters

Open Water Diver (minimum age 10 years)
This is PADI's entry level diver program.
It is run over four or five days and is normally conducted from 09.00 to 16.00.
The first three days are based at Oonas with a mix of theory sessions and confined water training in our safe diver training area just off our beach in Naama Bay.
The sessions build on each other with the skills learnt in each lesson being added to the previous skills.
The final two days are spent on one of our dive boats where the students put into practice the knowledge and experience gained to complete the two open water qualifying dives per day.

Advanced Open Water Diver
After the Open Water Course is the Advanced Course.
This consists of five different specialty dives over two days. Each of the five dives in the course are preceded by reading the PADI Adventures in Diving manual, going over a knowledge review with your instructor and a debriefing. Generally they are conducted from one of our dive boats, although some of the dives may be carried out from our beach.
A deep dive and a navigation dive must be completed as part of this course with the additional three dives being selected by the students from the range of specialties within the PADI program.

Emergency First Response (Medic First Aid)
This a basic training course in emergency care, which concentrates on CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) along with other essential emergency procedures.
The course lasts approximately eight hours and can be conducted either in one day or over a few evenings (so as not to interfere with your dive package).

Rescue Diver
This course is the first step in expanding a diver's knowledge beyond that of a recreational level and is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership level training such as Divemaster and Open Water Scuba Instructor.
The Rescue course takes three days; the first two days cover such topics as basic search and recovery techniques, emergency control and management and takes the previously learned first aid training into the water for specific diver related procedures.
The final day is spent on the dive boat putting this new knowledge into practice through carrying out rescue scenarios with both conscious and simulated unconscious victims.

Divemaster
To produce the best divemasters you need the best training and we are renowned for producing some of the best divemasters in the area.
In fact we generally only employ divemasters that we have trained.
To this end we run our courses over a minimum of four weeks and up to a maximum of six.
The latter includes an internship where the student will thoroughly learn how to be a working divemaster.
Usually this applies to people wishing to become a diving professional rather than someone who just wants to learn for their own development.
The initial seven to ten days are spent covering academic studies such as physics, physiology, decompression theory, diving skills and the recreational dive planner.
After this a student moves on to more practical aspects relating to the diving profession such as training exercises, underwater map making, diving skills assessment and the different roles a divemaster may undertake.
The final part of the course is spent working with our instructors assisting on various PADI courses and working with our divemasters out on the dive boats.
This will give them a wealth of experience along with a thorough knowledge of what being a working divemaster is all about.

Specialty Courses
These are relatively short courses usually run over one or two days.
We do not offer certain specialties such as ice diver or cave diver as they are not applicable to the environment here in the Red Sea.
We therefore offer the following specialty diver courses.

Instructor Development Course (IDC)
The IDC is for people who are thinking of furthering their career within diving. The course takes 9 days and within that time the candidates learn how to teach the full range of PADI courses.
The IDC is followed by a two day exam which is conducted by independent examiners form PADI headquarters.
During the exam each candidate is tested on their ability to teach academic, confined and open water sessions as well as being tested on waterman ship and rescue skills.
