Coming
to Ramses 9, we also come close to the end
of the New Kingdom with its 20th Dynasty. The fact
that this is a dynasty at sunset is well
illustrated with the few sunk-reliefs compared to
flat paintings.
The main attraction here is th Book of Night in
the burial chamber. It is presented in yellow in a
dark blue background. On the walls here you will
see the pharaoh's resurrection by the god Khepri,
which is the scarab incarnation of the sun with
its rebirth at dawn.
All in all, this is a quite disappointing tomb,
but if you try to see it in an historical context
it is a very important counterweight of the
wealthy tombs. It shows the conditions for most
pharaohs. most were not in a position of creating
lavish memorials over themselves.
